Code of Ethics

This Code of Ethics is for the guidance of members and staff of Fiosrú. It has two principal purposes.

The first is to assist members and staff in fulfilling their obligations at law. The second is to assist the members and staff of Fiosrú in their three objectives, set out in the PSCS Act 2024.

These are:

• Promoting public confidence in the processes for resolving complaints and in investigations;
• Improving public understanding of the role and functions of the Police Ombudsman; and
• Ensuring that functions are performed in a timely, efficient and effective manner and in accordance with fair procedures.
